Don Tollefson is a former sports broadcaster who gained popularity in the Philadelphia area for his coverage of local sports teams, particularly the Philadelphia Eagles. He worked as a sports anchor and reporter for WPVI-TV (6abc) for many years.
In 1995, Tollefson founded the charity organization "Winning Ways" to help disadvantaged youth through sports programs and academic enrichment. However, in 2015, he faced legal troubles after being accused of running a fraudulent charity scheme. He was charged with theft by deception, filing false tax returns, and related offenses.
Tollefson ultimately pleaded guilty to scamming dozens of people out of thousands of dollars through his charity activities. He was sentenced to prison and ordered to pay restitution to the victims. This scandal tarnished his reputation and ultimately led to the end of his broadcasting career.
